The development of FRP industry in Taiwan is very similar to that of the
industrialized countries. It started from the processing of FRP products in
1966，followed by the manufacturing of raw materials and then entered
the advanced composites industry, through the R&D of academic and
industrial research institutes.
The total FRP products in Taiwan is 500,000 tons in 2015. The major
traditional products are yacht, fishing boat, bath tub, panel, cooling
tower, tanks and sporting goods etc. SMC and BMC are developing for
our booming automobile and construction industry. High performance
engineering plastics and composites have found expanding used in
construction, public transportation, watercrafts, aircraft, electronics,
appliances, furniture and business machines, etc.
Material Science and Technology are the foundation industry. Composite
material is the key composite for the current and future and material
industry. Moreover, the applications of composite material are being
expanded to almost everywhere of human life. Hence, the development
of composite is strongly encouraged by government and industry in
Taiwan. Great efforts are contributed from universities, government
agencies and industries. Coordination is conducted by the RP/C society
has been enjoyed the economic growth in Taiwan for the past year.
